Our Fundraiser!
Last night, we all came to gether at Arnold Hoon's long table in Westdene for dinner and an auction. We added a little onto the price of dinner, organised a cash bar, and auctioned off donated items (like prints from Chris Kirchhof and Robert Hamblin, jewelery, manicures, rock climbing etc.)We wanted to do two things: raise money and raise awareness of the idea of a giving stokvel (and have fun!)
We made R20 000! And Tracy, a guest at the dinner, won the draw, nominating her favorite charity, Meals on Wheels in the south of Johannesburg, to recieve the cash.
Thank you to everyone who came - and thank you to our DoM members who worked to make it happen, and thanks to all who donated items for the auction!

Thanks so much for the initiative - I have sent the press release to all my contacts. Everyone I have spoken to is very excited about what you do. I will certainly be following suit, so your spirit will be spread. It only takes one butterfly ....
Thanks for all the effort to make it an enjoyable, organised evening for us all - all the planning, bookings, photostatting, cutting slips of paper, etc. did not go unnoticed. DoMs rock!

Wow - indeed! Our sports and social club decided at the AGM last month that this is
the year for the elderly and have also asked people to donate in monthly deductions
from their salaries to Meals of Wheels. There are more "movements" working underground than what most people are aware of!
One of the contract cleaning guys had his shack burnt down - amazing - he got enough
donations from the people in the office for another 4 families. It can be done!
Thanks for having me I had a really fun evening and all for a good cause
too!!
